Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question about your stay, the surroundings, meals or the booking process? On this page you'll find answers to the most common questions.

BOOKING & PAYMENT

How can I make a reservation?

Preferably via the contact form on the website. Booking by phone is also possible. Please allow time for processing: every reservation must be confirmed by the gîte in Morocco, and sometimes it takes a while to get in touch.

How does payment work?

You pay in cash at the gîte, directly to the manager. Payment is accepted in Moroccan Dirhams or Euros. We use a rate of 10 Dirhams for 1 Euro. Debit and credit card payments are not possible, and there is no ATM nearby.

How do you handle my personal data?

For your stay in Morocco, we are legally required to register certain personal data, including passport details, with the local authorities. This information is used solely for this purpose and is not shared with third parties.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES

Can we camp?

Yes, at Gîte La Tulipe. Gîte Tamazirt does not have space for camping.

Can you arrange a guide?

Absolutely. Please let us know in advance what you need a guide for and when.

Are there any rules in the gîtes?

The most important rule: Be considerate of others. Some groups arrive late, while others leave early for their hike. It's appreciated if everyone keeps noise to a minimum during early mornings and late evenings.

Are there rooms with private bathrooms?

Currently, all rooms have shared sanitary facilities.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Wi-Fi is not available. There is a limited private network, but the connection is weak and not suitable for guests.

Can we rent mules from you?

Yes, you can. Please mention this when booking. The price includes the mule and its handler — it's not possible to go out alone with the mule.

Can we have our luggage transported?

Yes, this is done by mule with a mule driver. Please mention this in your reservation and we’ll send you a quote.

Can we cook for ourselves?

Yes, but keep in mind that the gîtes are not located near supermarkets.

SUPPLIES & SHOPS

Can I buy groceries near the gîtes?
  • Gîte Tamazirt: you can buy small items in the village. For larger groceries, you can walk to Agouti (about 45 minutes). For more extensive shopping, head to Tabant, a small provincial town about two hours on foot. We can arrange local transport if needed. If you plan to cook for yourself, it's best to stock up in the larger towns you pass through.

  • Gîte La Tulipe: there are no shops nearby.

Can I drink water from the tap or stream?

Not without filtering or using purification tablets. You can buy bottled mineral water at the gîte.

ACCESSIBILITY & TRANSPORT

How long is the drive from Marrakech to Gîte Tamazirt?

Depending on the route and road conditions, expect a journey of 5 to 7 hours. We can arrange transport for you — options include minibus, 4x4 or taxi. Prices vary by type and season. Contact us for a quote. We can also arrange airport transfers to and from Marrakech.

Can you reach Gîte La Tulipe by car?

No, Gîte La Tulipe is only accessible on foot. From Gîte Tamazirt, it's about a two-hour walk. There are other access routes too, such as from Agouti, Tabant, or descending from the M’Goun or the Tarkeditt plateau.

COMMUNICATION & LANGUAGE

What languages are spoken in the gîtes?

The managers speak Berber and some Arabic. Communication about reservations goes through the owner, who speaks French, Dutch, English, Berber and Arabic.

CLOTHING & CULTURE

Are there clothing guidelines I should follow?

You won’t be directly addressed about your clothing, but it’s respectful to avoid dressing too revealingly. A pair of shorts just above the knee and a short-sleeved shirt are fine. If in doubt, more coverage is always better.

Can I take photos?

Most people don’t like being photographed without permission. Please ask beforehand and avoid posting identifiable photos of people on social media without their consent.
